NHS Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression will host an array of public events during Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 13-19 May 2024. This is a national initiative to inform people on the importance of looking after one’s mental health and to be mindful of those in need of mental health support.

In order to bring awareness to the community it serves in Coventry and Warwickshire, NHS Talking Therapies will have promotional stalls at colleges, sixth forms, universities, libraries, railway stations and family centres. The kick-off event on Monday 13 May will be at Coventry Rail Station (in front of the Coventry Visitor Information Centre at Station Square, Coventry CV1 2FL) from 11am to 6pm. The general public is welcome to stop by the booth to receive merchandise, such as stress balls, trolley tokens, pens, reusable shopping bags, chocolate and have a chat with the team about how the service can support their mental wellbeing.

Sheri Ashton, Head of Service NHS Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression said: “With one in four adults in the United Kingdom experiencing mental health issues, it is important for us to target areas in the community that may be under supported. This is why we are pleased to have a varied list of locations where we can speak about the ways in which NHS Talking Therapies can cater to the needs of each individual.”

As libraries are free and open spaces for people to gather, NHS Talking Therapies will have stalls at two, guaranteeing to target a wide range of residents on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 14 May from 12-3pm at Rugby Library (Little Elborow St, Rugby CV21 3BZ)
  • Friday 17 May from 10am-1pm at Leamington Spa Library (Leamington Library Royal Pump Rooms Parade, Parade, Leamington Spa CV32 4AA)

In reaching out to specific groups, young farmers comprise a large population in Warwickshire. To support them, there will be a booth at the Warwickshire Young Farmers’ Club Hoe Down on Saturday 18 May from 10am-2pm (Alton Hall Farm, Allesley CV5 9DN).
