Celebrating Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s Allied Health Professionals
Saturday 14 October marked Allied Health Professionals’ (AHPs) Day, an annual celebration that takes place to shine a spotlight on the amazing contribution AHPs give to patient care. As the third-largest clinical workforce within health and care, AHPs play a pivotal role in supporting the NHS Long-Term Plan.
There are 14 AHP categories within the NHS and we have 9 of these professions within CWPT, including: occupational therapists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech and language therapists, paramedics, dietitians, and arts therapists (Music, Art, Drama).
We’re really proud of the work of our AHPs at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) and held an event on Thursday 12 October to celebrate how our AHP community is in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills.
The event was a continuation of celebrations that have been taking place this year and followed the AHP Awards that were held in July. It included 25 speakers to showcase the diverse skill set of our AHP community, the career pathways available, and specific enablers supported by CWPT. The presentations also evidenced our commitment at CWPT to continue progressing the national AHP Strategy, AHPs Deliver, as well as implementing our CWPT AHP Strategic plan which was approved by our Board in July. The event was an opportunity for the AHP community to come together and ask questions about the different work taking place.
Mary Mumvuri, Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy CEO for CWPT said: “I am extremely proud of the work our AHP community is doing here at CWPT and the progress we’ve made over the last year. The event was a time to celebrate our AHPs’ unique contributions to our patients' care and treatment, as well as inspire even more collaborative work across CWPT’s AHP community.

This event demonstrated the breadth and impact of the AHP contribution and provided an opportunity for colleagues to connect and inspire each other. I am both humbled and proud of what our AHPs do every day. I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who joined, as well as an enthusiastic ‘Happy AHPs’ Day 2023’”.
